Five Amazing IELTS Tips for Students Having Low-Level English

The International English Language Testing System is a test to check your fluency in English. It is dependent on four salient points of the English language – speaking, reading, writing, and listening. As we all know, preparing for an exam means hours of study, but you could improve your English by following a few important things with ease. Do not hesitate to prepare yourself for IELTS if you have a low intermediate level of English. There is always a good time to prepare you for IELTS.

At first IELTS test can feel a little hard and deluge. But with hard work and exercise, it is easy to get the score you are trying for. Here are five tips that can improve your English and help you with your preparation.

1. Enrich Vocabulary

Expanding vocabulary is the most significant part of learning a new language. While listening to a conversation, try to note down the words with which you are not familiar. Find their meaning from a supporting context by using a dictionary or Google it. Check if you are writing the spelling correctly. Then note down the word synonyms or write a short note that defines the particular word and remember it. Use the word in your writings or while having a conversation properly. Listen to English news frequently or read English newspapers. You will notice the use of many new words and can adopt them from there.

2. Strengthen Writing Skill

When you are learning a new word, write its definition and use it in sentences to improve your skill. Try to write passages using all the new words you have learned and know their correct use. Writing does not let you forget the word you have just learned. A particular phrase can have many synonyms. Try to write as many as you can and keep them for further references. Try to solve word puzzles. Practice your writing skill by setting a time limit to check the improvement of the speed. Learn to write answers briefly with correct information and avoid grammatical errors. Writing can be a primary point for improving your skill and preparing for IELTS.

 3. Put Effort in Fluency and Pronunciation

Constant practice is all that it takes. Using the correct pronunciation strengthens the fluency of the student. Talk for a long time in English regularly for practice purposes. Try to listen to spoken English very often. Record yourself while practicing to check the improvement and to point out the mistakes. Make sure to correct them next time, as it will help to improve fluency. Talk loud at the time of practicing so that you can listen to yourself while pronouncing the words. Try to discuss various topics in English and listen to other people’s recordings too. Repeat after the speaker fluently as they are talking. Finding a partner with outstanding English speaking skills is an advantage.

4. Learn to Skim and Scan

To create a general picture of a text instantly, you have to learn skimming and scanning. Skimming is reading a passage to have a basic idea of the context. Finish skimming the text before handling the questions. Do not try to understand the passage thoroughly. It is a chance to get a sense of the topic and create a base. Skim the passage within 2-3 minutes, but do not take longer than that. At this stage, identify the keywords you will need later. Scanning is your capability to locate important information really quick. There is no need to grip the passage. Your task is to identify the answers only.

5. Do Practice Tests Carefully

Practice makes one perfect. Students think the unlimited practice of IELTS tests can improve their English language. Practice tests could be helpful, but at first, you need to capture the language. Keep focusing on grammatical mistakes and try to enlarge your English vocabulary. It could help you to increase your score. After this, take regular tests to check your development.

Unless you recognize your weaknesses, you will not get an idea of how to improve your English. These tips can be helpful, although you have to be aware of each part of the test. It is significant to know the strategy that suits you. With the help of the right plan, even a student with a low intermediate level of English knowledge can write and talks like a native English speaker. With an extensive knowledge of the test and its modules, one can develop time-saving methods. Your triumph rate in the IELTS examination is dependent on your dedication and implementation.
